Static data
Static data is the controlled catalog information that QIAS LIMS uses in request forms and delivery workflows. Maintain it so users select consistent, reportable values instead of entering ad hoc text.
Catalog groups
| Group | Catalogs |
|---|---|
| Classification | Service groups and job-type mappings |
| Analysis | Request services, sample types, analytical methods, analytes |
| Intake and handling | Storage conditions, shipment methods, turnaround options |
| Training and consultation | Training topics, training formats, consultation areas |
| Billing | Currencies |
Open Admin → Static Data. On desktop, the catalogs are grouped in a vertical rail; on smaller screens, use the catalog selector.
Safe catalog maintenance
- Search for an existing value before creating a new one.
- Use a clear code and human-readable label.
- Keep inactive values when historic records need to remain understandable; do not delete a value that active work depends on.
- Confirm the right service-group mapping before changing job-type behavior.
- Test a new or changed option in the relevant job form.
Sample ID generation
The static-data page also exposes the sample-ID generator configuration. Do not change identifier policy casually: issued sample IDs are used by labels, scanning, audit, and printed records.
Catalog changes affect live forms
A newly active catalog value can appear immediately in the relevant request or operational form. Use names that ordinary clients and staff will understand.
