Sample labels and printing
QIAS LIMS creates labels after the physical receipt of sample-analysis containers. Every label carries the QIAS sample ID, which is also the scan key for opening the related job.
Before you print
- Record the physical receipt in the job’s Sample Workflow tab.
- Check each issued sample ID against the matching container.
- Open Sample Receipt & Labels.
- Use the preview to verify the count and IDs before printing.
Preview before every first print
The preview is the final check that the selected IDs match the physical containers. Use Reprint only for an already issued label and give the reason requested by QIAS LIMS.
Choose an output method

The QZ Tray option requires a configured workstation, a supported Chromium browser, QZ Tray running, a selected printer, and the required trust setup. If it is unavailable, choose Browser / PDF or Download ZPL as the fallback.
Reprinting
Use Reprint only when a label is damaged, lost, or otherwise needs another copy. Enter the required reason. QIAS LIMS records reprints separately from initial print runs.
Scan a label
- Open Jobs.
- Select Scan Sample.
- Focus the input and scan the label; a keyboard-wedge scanner enters the sample ID and submits it with Enter.
- QIAS LIMS opens the correct job in the Sample Workflow tab, where the matching sample is shown in the job’s operational context.
The lookup is exact. If the scanner reads an incomplete or incorrect ID, QIAS LIMS does not open a potentially wrong sample.
Physical checks
Before relying on a printer model or label stock in routine work, verify a complete print-and-scan cycle with the actual printer, label material, and scanner. Confirm that both parent-sample and aliquot labels scan correctly.
